6 Years of Obama Approval Ratings Around the State of the Union

The approval ratings surrounding the time of a president’s State of the Union speech often offers a reflection of the American people’s thoughts and perceptions on the current president.

Over the past seven years of his presidency, Obama’s approval rating around the time of the State of the Union address has fluctuated.

Here is a lineup of his approval ratings for the past six years:

Feb. 2009 – Approval: 64 percent

Jan. 2010 – Approval: 49 percent

Jan. 2011 – Approval: 46 percent

Jan. 2012 – Approval: 44 percent

Feb. 2013 – Approval: 51 percent

Jan. 2014 – Approval: 43 percent

The president is currently at a 46 percent approval rating, according to Gallup’s latest presidential approval ratings.
