Gov. Kemp Discusses Impact of New Siemens Facility on Georgia’s Job Growth

On Friday, Gov. Brian Kemp announced the impact that Siemens will have on Georgia’s workforce over the next few years.

The global technology leader is building a 550,000-square-foot facility near Pendergrass and will add 1,400 new jobs to the state over the next three years. This expansion signifies a $185 million investment, Kemp and other economic officials said.

“For 140 years, Siemens has been a valued part of Georgia’s business community, and this latest investment decision is another testament to the strong economic partnership between our state and Germany,” Kemp said in a news release.

While assembly of the facility is set to begin in November, hiring is expected to start in 2027.

Kemp and officials from the Georgia Department of Economic Development went to Germany at the beginning of 2025, during what Kemp referred to as an “international mission” to increase economic relations with Germany and Poland.

Siemens currently has two manufacturing facilities and six offices across Georgia. It currently employs over 1,700 people throughout the state.

Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson, speaking about the 2025 trip to Siemens in Germany, commented on the state’s ongoing relationship with the company.

“Our 2025 visit to Siemens’ headquarters in Munich marked another important step in the relationship we have built over many years through regular engagement with the company’s leadership, both in Germany and here in Georgia,” Wilson said in the news release.

While OpenGeorgia’s website did not categorize each trip taken by economic development officials in the 2025 fiscal year, close to half of Wilson’s salary consisted of travel costs, totaling $117,720.97, The Center Square reported.

Additionally, The Center Square reported that Kemp sent $56,506.12 to the Economic Development department.

The state collaborated with the Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce, the Jackson County Industrial Development Authority, Georgia Power, and Georgia Quick Start on the agreement.

Barry Powell, North America president of the Siemens Electrical Products business unit, commented on the investment, saying, “Georgia was a natural choice for our next manufacturing investment. The state offers a strong business environment, access to a highly skilled workforce, and close proximity to our existing operations and supply chain network across the Southeast.”
