Planned Parenthood Plans to Spend Big in 2026 to Keep Accessing Your Tax Dollars

Planned Parenthood Votes, the political arm of the nation’s largest abortion provider, plans to spend $47 million on the midterm elections, targeting members of Congress who voted to cut funding for the organization.
That’s a significant price to gain access to taxpayer dollars, said Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee.
“It’s sad that Planned Parenthood will spend $50 million just to get our tax dollars,” Tobias told the Daily Signal in a phone interview.
Politico first reported that the abortion advocacy group is targeting competitive congressional races in Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania to defeat members of Congress who voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a 2025 megabill that included a provision cutting about $700 million in funding to Planned Parenthood for one year. The funding, through Medicaid reimbursements, was restored on July 4 after Congress failed to extend the cuts.
Sarah Standiford, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, told Politico, “We’re in the fight of our lives.”
She said the organization will do everything to “elect unapologetic champions of reproductive freedom” and “make sure members of Congress who voted against Planned Parenthood lose their jobs.”

Tobias noted that the $47 million investment is not entirely alarming or unique, given that the organization spent big in past election cycles.
“The abortion industry, especially Planned Parenthood, makes this claim every election cycle, that they are going to spend millions to defeat pro-life candidates and elect pro-abortion candidates,” Tobias added.
Planned Parenthood Votes is targeting Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, even though she voted against the omnibus bill that defunded Planned Parenthood. The group noted Collins cast a procedural vote to bring the bill to the floor for a vote.
The political group is also targeting the Michigan Senate race, with ads against former Rep. Mike Rogers, the likely Republican candidate for the Senate nomination, according to Politico.
Planned Parenthood Votes is also targeting Republican Reps. Bill Huizenga and Tom Barrett of Michigan; Gabe Evans of Colorado; Mariannette Miller-Meeks of Iowa; Mike Lawler of New York; David Valadao of California; Brian Fitzpatrick and Ryan Mackenzie of Pennsylvania; and Juan Ciscomani of Arizona.
For its part, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America will be devoting $160 million in 2026 and 2028 toward electing pro-life candidates, said the group’s spokeswoman, Kelsey Pritchard.
“Four days after Planned Parenthood began receiving our taxpayer money again, they are investing tens of millions into electing extreme Democrats in tight races,” Pritchard told the Daily Signal in a statement. “Our taxpayer dollars fuel Planned Parenthood to take more unborn lives, harm more women, and fund woke politics. Defunding Big Abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood once again is not just the right thing to do. It’s the politically smart thing in an election year, where base turnout is necessary in order to win.”
After the Dobbs decision by the Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade, which established a nationwide right to abortion, Democrats mobilized voters to stave off an anticipated red wave in the 2022 midterm elections, with Republicans winning only a narrow House majority. Democrats ran heavily on abortion again in 2024 but were not successful.
“Democrats’ desperation ahead of the midterms is growing more laughable by the day,” Natalie Baldassarre, national press secretary for the Republican National Committee, told the Daily Signal in a statement.
“They have no clear message to unite their party and are turning back to their tired old tropes,” Baldassarre said. “This strategy will not work, and Republicans will continue to be on offense to ensure the American people know just how radical and unqualified their candidates are.”
When Congress blocked Medicaid reimbursements for services at Planned Parenthood facilities, the organization asserted federal funding it received in the past did not go to abortions.
Pro-life voters were disappointed at Republicans’ failure to extend the cuts, noted Tobias.
“Defunding Planned Parenthood was historic, and it did show that Republicans can stand by their word,” Tobias said. “We’re grateful that Congress did it. That’s why we expected them to do it again. It’s the same Congress.”
