Are Libertarians a ‘Spoiler’ for the GOP? Here’s John Stossel’s Take

Kate Scanlon •   November 6, 2014

Republican candidate Ed Gillespie trails Democratic Sen. Mark Warner by 16,727 votes in Virginia’s razor-thin U.S. Senate race. It’s so close the Associated Press won’t call it.

The margin between Gillespie and Warner is much smaller than the 53,396 votes for Libertarian Robert Sarvis.

So, was Sarvis a spoiler?

On Thursday’s Varney & Co. on Fox Business Network, guest host David Asman asked “our resident libertarian” John Stossel if libertarians were playing that role in races across America, taking away votes from Republicans in the process.

“Look, we vote for liberty,” said Stossel. “Republicans often want to take our liberty. I’m not going to say that it’s terrible to run and hurt a Republican.”

Asman later asked Stossel if libertarians were happy with the results of the 2014 midterms.

“We’re never happy,” said Stossel, “we never win!”

Today, even with President Trump’s victory, leftist elites have their tentacles in every aspect of our government.

The Daily Signal’s own Tyler O’Neil exposes this leftist cabal in his new book, The Woketopus: The Dark Money Cabal Manipulating the Federal Government.

In this book, O’Neil reveals how the Left’s NGO apparatus pursues its woke agenda, maneuvering like an octopus by circumventing Congress and entrenching its interests in the federal government.
