Rand Paul Says McConnell’s Senate Victory Was Referendum on Hillary Clinton

Daily Signal Staff •   November 4, 2014

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, a Republican who has acknowledged he is considering a presidential bid in 2016, wasn’t shy about jabbing at one of his potential Democrat opponents tonight.

“I think here in Kentucky, this was a referendum not only on the president, but on Hillary Clinton,” Paul said on Fox News.

Speaking about the Democrat Senate candidate, Alison Lundergan Grimes, who lost to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Paul continued, “Grimes ran as a Clinton Democrat. She tried to disassociate herself from the president, so she tried to attach herself to Hillary Clinton. But it turns out Hillary Clinton doesn’t have many coattails in Kentucky.”

Later on in the interview, he again stressed the point.

“I think it is a repudiation basically of the president’s policies, but also of Hillary Clinton,” Paul said. “Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton have been all over the place. They’re trying to make it out as if they’re somehow better for Democrats. Well, in Kentucky they were soundly rejected.”

Fox News host Bret Baier suggested Paul was talking about a “potential opponent.”

“They campaigned in Kentucky very heavily,” Paul replied, speaking about the Clintons. “And in Arkansas. And in Iowa. So I think the facts are the facts. Did the Clintons help their ticket? So far, I don’t think they have.”

In this book, O’Neil reveals how the Left’s NGO apparatus pursues its woke agenda, maneuvering like an octopus by circumventing Congress and entrenching its interests in the federal government.
