Jill Biden really wants you to believe that she just had no idea that President Joe Biden was in steep mental decline until it was revealed in front of the whole world.
That laughable notion was the narrative she peddled in an interview on CBS News this Sunday where she acted as if the infamous final debate between Biden and President Donald Trump was somehow just a scary outlier.
The former first lady said she was “frightened” during her husband’s infamous debate performance and that she hadn’t seen him like that before or since.
“I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s having a stroke,’ and it scared me to death,” Biden said.
Oh, really?
I remember that night a few years ago and “doctor” Jill’s reaction to what she now says she thought was a stroke.

Immediately following her husband’s disastrous by any measure performance, she went on stage with him to smile, wave, and give the president a pat on the head like he was a toddler who just learned to pull his pants up.
“Joe, you did such a great job, you answered every question, you know all the facts!” she said, patronizingly, as she led the crowd in chants of “four more years.”
As Fox News commentator Jimmy Fallia wrote on X, if Jill really thought her husband was having a serious health incident she comes off here as a “power hungry sociopath.”
That wasn’t even the end of it.
Let’s say for the sake of a very poor argument that the Bidens were just trying to keep up appearances on stage following the debate. What were they then doing at a Waffle House hobnobbing with supporters and media later that night instead of at a hospital if there was any concern that the president was facing a potentially life-threatening medical emergency?
So, I don’t really buy the former first lady’s sudden revelation that she was particularly concerned that night or that she had “never, ever seen Joe like that.” This seems more like an obvious attempt to rewrite history.
In fact, I’d say those of us who were paying attention saw Biden very much like that time and again in public. It just became obvious to the tens of millions of people watching the televised presidential debate. If you recall the president was carefully hidden from view, his public appearances were mostly choreographed.
The bizarre incidents typically happened when Biden went off script and had to think for himself. Otherwise it was like living a sequel of “Weekend at Bernie’s,” except in this case the cadaver’s ventriloquists were a mysterious cabal of politicos with access to the country’s nuclear codes.
Remember this X video of Biden challenging Trump to a debate that looked like it was cut every three seconds because Biden couldn’t deliver his lines?
I don’t need to recount the examples of worrying behavior because anyone who didn’t just slurp up the latest Associated Press Biden health “fact checks” could see that there was something very wrong with the president.
But the legacy media labeled anyone who pointed and said Biden had no clothes—in some cases almost literally—as purveyors of fake news, and “cheap fakes.”
You had to be a “MAGA extremist” to even consider that your lying eyes weren’t deceiving you.
It was obvious at the time that virtually all the legacy and left-leaning media was mostly happy to allow the Biden administration to cover up the fact that the president was in poor health. They did this to protect the power of the Democratic Party and to ensure that Trump would never return to the White House.
Oops.
The joke is ultimately on them though, because their years-long coverup likely both destroyed legacy media credibility and fueled Trump’s decisive victory in 2024.
Americans felt lied to. In the Biden years we got woke insanity dressed up as common sense and a barely-there president portrayed as a man in the prime of his life. The backlash was appropriately intense.
But this is why I’m not going to give kudos to former Biden staffers, CNN anchors, “intrepid” reporters two years too late, and the legions of media commentators who are now lashing out at Jill Biden but did nothing when it mattered.
It’s like how in post-World War II France everyone was in the French Resistance.
Yeah, right.
Now to a certain extent it doesn’t matter what Jill Biden or the former president’s few remaining defenders say. The Democrat Party is only too glad to move on or use him as a scapegoat for their unpopularity. His former media defenders are doing whatever they can to signal that they knew the truth all along or that they were somehow tricked.
Yet, I do think it’s important to remember how they behaved during those years to hold onto power. It was a lie agreed upon for the greater good, they surely reasoned. But this lie put the country at risk, it rightly destroyed American trust in all institutions, and it gave cover to one of the greatest scandals in American political history.
Never forget that. They didn’t learn a lesson, they’re only chastened because they got caught.
