Georgia Rep. Claims Big Numbers in Early Senate Fundraising

George Caldwell •   July 29, 2025

Republican Rep. Mike Collins of Georgia claims he’s on a fundraising roll after announcing his bid Monday to unseat Democrat incumbent Sen. Jon Ossoff in the Peach State.

On Monday, Collins announced he had raised $220,000 in the first 12 hours of his campaign being active.

“It’s been a fast-paced 12 hrs. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Very grateful for the confidence and support—thank you! Will keep the hammer down!” wrote Collins on X as he announced the numbers.

The son of former Rep. Mac Collins, R-Ga., Collins has represented Georgia’s 8th Congressional District since 2023. Collins also owns and operates a large trucking business.

In the House, Collins has been an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump and introduced the Laken Riley Act, which the president signed into law in January.

The legislation, named for a Georgia woman killed by an illegal immigrant in 2024, requires the Department of Homeland Security to detain noncitizens who have been arrested for violent crimes.

He has made this accomplishment a main focus of his early campaign promotional materials.

In Georgia, Republicans have an opportunity to regain lost ground in a state that elected Trump by a 115,000-vote margin in 2024.

Since the “big, beautiful” budget reconciliation bill passed by just a one-vote margin in the Senate and Republicans could face tough races in North Carolina, Maine, and even Texas, the Georgia election will be of great importance for the balance of power in Washington.

Collins is, of course, not the only Republican seeking Ossoff’s seat.

Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., entered the race in May and his campaign committee has taken in a reported total of almost $1.4 million in contributions since the beginning of the year. The campaign has also received $2 million in loans.

Ossoff, too, has been raking in cash for the Georgia showdown, with a reported total of over $21 million donated to the candidate since the beginning of 2025.

Today, even with President Trump’s victory, leftist elites have their tentacles in every aspect of our government.

The Daily Signal’s own Tyler O’Neil exposes this leftist cabal in his new book, The Woketopus: The Dark Money Cabal Manipulating the Federal Government.

In this book, O’Neil reveals how the Left’s NGO apparatus pursues its woke agenda, maneuvering like an octopus by circumventing Congress and entrenching its interests in the federal government.
