Sami Winc: Well, let’s turn to the California governor’s race, and Steve Hilton is closing the gap, which was a huge gap.
Victor Davis Hanson: It was an internal poll, but it might be correct.
Sami Winc: Yes. And Xavier Becerra has angered the Latino community because he’s been pushing the lie that his own parents were immigrants, and his father, we’ve all found out, was actually born in Sacramento. And yes, he did go back and forth between Mexico and California, but nonetheless, he was born an American.
So the immigrant story has really angered the Latino community.
Victor Davis Hanson: Everything he said is untrue. He said he had nothing to do with losing, what, three hundred thousand people when he was [Health and Human Services Secretary]. He couldn’t even find them, right?

And then, I watched that debate, and he canceled. He just walked out of the second debate. He’s not gonna debate. It was all scheduled the day before. I think it was supposed to be tonight. He just canceled.
His advisors came to him and said, obviously, we looked at the tapes, Xavier, and you got slaughtered. You’re just a sphinx. You just sit there quiet, and then you turn to him and say, “Trump, Trump, Trump.” And then you get your little racist tidbit in, and you said you’re just wanting to get people into the country that only look like you. And then you don’t mention anything about your record or defend it. You have no idea what you want to do as governor. You can’t give an answer on high-speed rail. You can’t get [an answer] on the water bond we haven’t used. You don’t know about the homeless. You don’t know how to stop the fires.
And then he, I guess he says, yeah, but people in California don’t vote for the people. They just look at their little ballot and they say D, and 60 to 65% of the state, so they punch it. And that means to them, the SEIU and the teachers union and all these people are gonna get me more money, whether I’m a government employee and I work for the state in some fashion, or a school district, and I’m gonna get more money. And there’s all these fat cats that can pay me more money.
And most of them, the people who were voting, are first- or second-generation immigrants.
And that’s about, in California, it’s about like Canada. It’s about 45% now. And that’s his whole strategy, is what I’m trying to say. Don’t talk, don’t debate now, don’t be out in public. Just tell everybody to get the machine out, get the SEIU, get the mail ballots in, store them on pallets, and then five to 10, we know what’s gonna happen.
It’s gonna be closer than you think. It’s gonna be 80% of the vote in, Steve Hilton is [ahead] by three points, five points. And then Becerra’s gonna go, yes, undo the pallets, and then he’s gonna go ahead by … it’ll be even, and then he’s gonna call the teachers union, get the trucks and get the votes out. release them, and then he’s gonna lose by 10.
Sami Winc: And this will all happen after the election day is done
Victor Davis Hanson: After the election. Yeah, just like what happened, Spencer Pratt.
Sami Winc: Yeah. Well, speaking of people who are MIA, apparently [James] Talarico in Texas hasn’t been seen for a week or showed up for planned events the last week. Did you have any thoughts on that?
Victor Davis Hanson: Yeah, I do. They have internal polls, and they show him five points ahead. He spent 10 times the money of Paxton. Paxton can’t run …
John Cornyn was Mr. Republican in Texas. He was a good old boy. He wasn’t really right wing. He was just like a John Connally guy. And people would call him up and say, “Cornyn, you know, I need a liquid natural gas terminal. Take care of it.” And he was that kind of guy. He served his constituents.
But when Donald Trump wanted these key bills like voter ID, he wouldn’t do it because he felt his Hispanic … He always put his finger in the …
But he did vote 80% of the time. So Trump and everybody got rid of him in the primary. They didn’t endorse him, and Paxton won handedly.
But the problem with Paxton is he was a flawed candidate in many ways. He had a dubious background. He’s not a good speaker. He’s not a charismatic person, and he can’t raise money in Texas because Cornyn has said to everybody, Cornyn has shut off the billionaires.
He’s basically said, I’m sober and judicious and Lincoln-esque, and I look like a senator, and this guy is some fuddy-duddy, nutty guy, and don’t give him any money.
And then Trump and Elon [Musk], for him to win this week, Trump’s gonna have to, with Elon, they’re gonna have to unleash $100 million.
And Talarico’s idea is they’ve done internal polling. And they said, you know, they like the idea when you say Trump, Trump, Trump. They like the idea you’re a Christian. They like the idea you’re young. They like the idea you’re a fresh face. But that’s it.
When you open your mouth, they hate your guts because you make fun of the meat industry. You make fun of the oil industry. You make fun of evangelicals. You make fun of every single Texas constituency. And you know right off the tip of your finger who your favorite drag performer is. You can talk about non-binaries.
You have a whole record, and we’ve tried everything to erase it, but it keeps leaking out. So we tell everybody you have a couple of sniffles and you have to cancel and you can kind of maybe sort of do a Zoom, but do not, for the next four months, just disappear.
It’s kind of like what Kamala, remember they nominate her? She was going to be so happy.
Kamala Harris, I’m going to go out there and wow them. I’m a woman of color, and I was a senator.
And then she went out and said, “And the process of being, you have to understand, is an essence that recalls your existential system.
And then it’s like coconut tree and get out of the coconut tree. And then it’s the being and time and being.”
And she did that about five times. And then those guys said, get her out, get a hook around her neck and pull her off the stage. And she is not, not, to have any interviews and debate anything.
So they did for about 30 days. And meanwhile, Trump was just like he was talking about everything nonstop. And JD [Vance] was eviscerating her surrogates on TV.
And then finally they said, she’s got to show up, but she’s got to debate Trump. So here’s 10 answers and memorize them.
No matter what the question is, Kamala, what do you think about deportation?
Well, you know how his borders are, and it’s a very critical issue, and what we really needed was comprehensive immigration reform.
Okay, but you didn’t answer the question.
Kamala, did you ever say defund the police?
Defund the police. I– we– The police are necessary, but we have to have some guards over them.
And she didn’t answer any questions. It was just memorized, and she won the debate by everybody said she won, and I thought, “Yes, she won the debate because Trump was all over the place.”
But when they start to show clips for the next … The Republicans are gonna show clips, and every clip makes her look like an ignoramus, and they did. And then they ask each week who won the debate, and finally it was even or Trump won the debate.
And that’s what Talarico is, and they don’t want him out. ‘Cause if he’s out there, somebody’s gonna run up to him and said, “You said Jesus is non-binary. Did you mean he was a woman or a man, or he’s gay or he’s trans? And what does a non-binary God mean? He has breasts, but he has testicles? Or what do you wanna do with the Old Testament when he said, ‘Our Father who art in heaven’? Is it our trans? Our, I don’t know, our transsexual or what? Our transvestite or our transgender?”
So he’s not gonna go out there. He’s gonna try to coast. He’s got so much money. They’re gonna run ads about Donald Trump, Donald Trump, Donald Trump, and then Paxton’s wife, wife, wife, wife, wife, wife, wife, wife, wife.
And then they know that if he goes out there, somebody’s gonna ask him, “You keep saying you have this girlfriend, but did you really meet her in a gay bar? And what were you in a gay bar for? And this is Texas, and we have family values down here, and where’s your … ”
And, you know, and he’s already done what he can, the poor guy. He got a Stetson hat, and then he got a Ram truck, and he drove into kind of like a blue-collar thing, and he worked at a lathe or something. They filmed it, and he looked pathetic.
It’s like these people are not authentic. It’s like [Abdul] El-Sayed with his cowboy hat. He’s got a cowboy hat in Michigan. And then he tries to go and lift weights, or he tries to act like he’s a blue collar.
And as soon as the election’s over, they’re gonna go revert to Bernie Sanders form if they win.

Today, even with President Trump’s victory, leftist elites have their tentacles in every aspect of our government.
The Daily Signal’s own Tyler O’Neil exposes this leftist cabal in his new book, The Woketopus: The Dark Money Cabal Manipulating the Federal Government.
In this book, O’Neil reveals how the Left’s NGO apparatus pursues its woke agenda, maneuvering like an octopus by circumventing Congress and entrenching its interests in the federal government.
