President Donald Trump wrote off calls for guardrails on artificial intelligence in a Monday Truth Social post, slamming Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei for sounding the alarm on the dangers posed by rapidly developing AI.
“The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!” Trump said. “The Trump Administration has stopped AI ‘people’ from doing bad, or potentially bad, ‘things,’ like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a ‘perfect little angel’ – and we will continue to do so!”
Over the weekend, Amodei wrote that “we must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models.”
“Progress will still seem fast, and we must make wise use of the time we gain,” he said.
Fears about the future of AI have been boiling up after Anthropic employee Jacob Coxon resigned from Anthropic, saying, “We’re on track for a lot of the most aggressive of these scenarios where by the end of next year things could be out of control already.” Another Anthropic employee, Evan Hubinger, chimed in that “We really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans!”
“I personally think it is >10% within the next decade,” he added.

Moments before the president’s post on Truth Social, Vice President JD Vance told reporters that “the best way to do [AI regulation] would be a consensus between both Congress and the administration.”
Trump, however, said “we already have tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power over these companies!”
“There is a SICK conspiracy going on against AI and Data Centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China,” he said. “WHOEVER WINS AI, WINS! We are leading China, and all others, and will continue to do so. Conspiracy Theorists, Treasonists, Traitors, and Leakers, BEWARE!”
Over the weekend, Trump also said there are “very negative forces” exaggerating concerns about AI.
Anthropic did not immediately respond to the Daily Signal’s request for comment.
