Trump Slams Illinois Governor for Calling for ‘Resistance’ to National Guard

President Donald Trump had harsh words for Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, a Democrat, who is fighting the administration’s efforts to take criminals off American streets.

The Daily Signal asked the president after his Cabinet meeting on Tuesday how he plans to respond to Pritzker’s saying he encourages residents to engage in “nonviolent resistance” if Trump sends the National Guard to crack down on Chicago crime.

“This guy doesn’t know what resistance is, or nonviolent resistance is,” Trump said. “He’s a bad politician.”

“He’s an incompetent man,” Trump added. “He should have never been put in a position like that.”

Pritzker said Monday to the president: “Do not come to Chicago.”

“Be sure to continue Chicago’s long tradition of nonviolent resistance,” he said.

Trump said he would love Pritzker and other Democrat governors to call him and ask for help.

“I would have much more respect for Pritzker if you call me up and say, ‘I have a problem. Can you help me fix it?’ I would be so happy to do it,” he said. “Not that I don’t have the right to do anything I want to do. I’m the president of the United States. If I think our country is in danger—and it is in danger in these cities—I can do it.”
