‘WORST NIGHTMARE’: Mamdani Issues Dire Warning to Trump

New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani said he would be President “Donald Trump’s worst nightmare.”

He also suggested that Trump is afraid of him, which he said explains Trump’s flippant comments about deportation, Fox News reported.

Mamdani, the city’s Democrat nominee for mayor, is leading in polls by wide margins in his effort to unseat incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, who was elected as a Democrat four years ago and is now running as an independent.

Disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, also running as an independent after losing the Democrat primary, is running a distant second to Mamdani in most polls. 

Curtis Sliwa, founder of the crime-fighting Guardian Angels group, is the Republican nominee for mayor. 

Mamdani’s comment was a response to Cuomo’s recent comment on X about Mamdani that “Donald Trump would go through you like a hot knife through butter. You would be a dream come true to the Republican Party.”

“You don’t need to take me at my word or take Andrew Cuomo at his,” Mamdani said during a Thursday press conference. “You need only look at the actions of the Trump administration since I won the Democratic primary. How else can you describe a president who has proposed de-naturalizing the Democratic nominee of New York City? How else can you describe a president who has sought to entertain suggestions of deporting me, of arresting me, of taking control of the city over the will of New Yorkers? Those are the actions of a president who is afraid of the fact that I will actually deliver in a manner where he has simply betrayed.”

Mamdani was asked about reports that Trump wanted to get involved in the race to stop him and that Trump has talked to Cuomo.

Mamdani said he did not talk to Trump.

“I’ve said that my approach to Washington will not be a reflexive one. It is one that will be in opposition to Donald Trump’s administration when it comes for New Yorkers, when it comes at the expense of the welfare of the people that I’m seeking to serve,” the Democrat candidate said. 

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News that Trump did not have plans to be involved in the race.
