Dolly Parton: ‘There’s So Much Crazy Stuff on TV’

A film based on the young life of country music legend Dolly Parton, which aired on NBC in December, was the most watched television movie on a broadcast network in almost four years. Drawing nearly 13 million viewers, “Coat of Many Colors” shows that faith- and family-themed movies can deliver big audiences.

I spoke with Parton and child actress Alyvia Alyn Lind, who plays her in the film, on the red carpet at the 24th Annual Movieguide Awards, where “Coat of Many Colors” won the category of Most Inspiring Television Program.
