Jean M. Yarbrough is a professor of government and the Gary M. Pendy Sr. professor of social sciences at Bowdoin College. She is the author of “Theodore Roosevelt and the American Political Tradition” (University of Kansas Press, 2012), which won the 2013 Richard E. Neustadt Prize for best book on the presidency.
