Jack Smith Obtained Data on at Least 639,000 Republican Donors, Voters and Supporters, Senate Finds
Former special counsel Jack Smith and the Biden administration Justice Department obtained information on at least 639,000 Republican donors, voters and supporters, the Senate Judiciary Committee revealed Wednesday.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, has led an investigation into Arctic Frost, which began as Smith’s probe of then-former President Donald Trump’s challenge to the 2020 election outcome and expanded to collect data from dozens of Republican members of Congress, as well as Trump supporters.
Smith’s office and the Biden Justice Department obtained names of Trump campaign personnel, a catalogue of Trump campaign products and information on the sale of red MAGA hats, including individual buyers, their purchases and their shipping addresses, according to Grassley’s memo. The earliest Republican donor information goes back to 2005, well before Trump ran for office.
Grassley said Smith’s team “aimed to map out the entire Republican Party apparatus.”
“This update shows that Jack Smith and the Biden Justice Department collected incredibly invasive donor data – and voter data – beyond what could conceivably be necessary for Smith or his team to fulfill the Special Counsel’s mandate,” Grassley said in a public statement.
“I again call on my Democratic colleagues to join my oversight work instead of trying to defend Smith and sweep his abuse of authority under the rug,” Grassley said.

“Jack Smith’s SCO and Biden’s Justice Department obtained donor, potential voter, and supporter data ranging from 2005 to 2021, well outside Smith’s scope of purported review and further corroborating that the Special Counsel operation was designed to map out the Republican Party,” the memo says.
