What the DSA Policy of Ending the Nuclear Family Looks Like

The Democratic Socialists of America believes that if society were to eliminate “the nuclear family,” which it describes as a “structure built to preserve capitalism,” the United States would enjoy more “women’s, queer, and Indigenous liberation.”

I’m here to debunk that myth. This is nothing more than another DSA fairy tale.

When I was a child, attempting to flee Venezuela after the communist uprising of 1998, my parents, who were of age and not Venezuelan nationals, were allowed to leave the country. I wasn’t, simply because I was a kid. I was considered “property of the state.”

Divine intervention is what granted my family and me a life here in the United States, a country we now call home.

Now, this move by the Venezuelan regime was not intended to liberate women, as I’m not one, or to advance the cause of Indigenous self-determination, as I’m not Indigenous either. The Indigenous population of Venezuela was and remains a minority of the country’s population.

The communists who wanted to keep me behind did not want to do so in order to promote a queer society, as I’m not queer. Venezuela hasn’t legalized gay marriage to this day. Instead, the communists wanted the opportunity to raise another foot soldier for their totalitarian regime.

Regardless of what DSA members who live in some sort of fantasy land tell you, the truth about this communist policy is that it’s rooted in creating a society increasingly dependent and subordinate to the state.

See, when a child becomes the property of the state, and not of his or her parents, let alone God, that child becomes a tool for the totalitarian regime to use whenever and wherever it chooses.

This is how these regimes create lifelong foot soldiers to use at their disposal, sometimes even as literal soldiers who provide the regime with aid, promote its propaganda, or make the regime money (the one thing every socialist claims to hate but secretly loves).

At that point, that child no longer inherits the identity of a child of his or her parents, but instead only the identity of the regime. That is why communists want to abolish the nuclear family.

Let’s take Cuba, for example. The country has told the world that U.S. embargoes are the reason its citizens are starving. Meanwhile, the government-controlled military wing has more than $14 billion in the bank.

Cuba does not leave room for the nuclear family.

Years ago, the overweight government officials in charge of overseeing drug cartels, luxury hotels, shipping industries, and offshore shell companies enacted a family policy that “breaks from the traditional household.”

The policy, codified in 2022 but enforced by the government years before, includes 400 articles that encourage a family to execute its “social duties on the basis of love, affection, consideration, solidarity, fraternity, partnership, sharing, cooperation, protection, and responsibility.”

In other words, communal living, all in the name of the totalitarian regime’s desire to survive for another 60 years.

This same policy has not been touted by politicians, like Michigan congressional candidate William Lawrence, who advocated for communal living in a now-deleted tweet, and others.

The only way a power-hungry communist can retain power is to indoctrinate the vulnerable, especially children.

Now, if that idea doesn’t sound good, they will throw lipstick on the pig and sell other misinformed adult children lies.

Americans cannot continue to fall for the lies of communism because once they do, they can’t undo the consequences. I, who have not returned to my birth country in 24 years, am living proof.

For your children, and for the children of your children, reject communism’s lies. Every one of them.
