‘Kid Gloves’ vs. ‘Public Spectacle’? Newly Released FBI Photos Fuel Biden-Trump Double Standard Claims in Doc Probes
The Oversight Project on Monday released photographic evidence from the FBI’s search of former President Joe Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, and the Penn Biden Center in connection with the investigation of his alleged mishandling of classified documents.
The watchdog organization contends the photos confirm Biden got the “kid-glove treatment” from the Justice Department while President Donald Trump was “presumed guilty” during multiple investigations, including one for alleged mishandling of classified documents.
“The Oversight Project is a dog on the bone. We don’t get accountability as much as we should because people simply move on. We don’t,” Oversight Project President Mike Howell said in a public statement. “What Biden did to this country was awful and so many people in positions of authority looked the other way or gave him amnesty for blatant abuse of our laws.”
The photos seem to show that Biden commingled classified information in his desk drawer as part of his note-gathering process for writing his book “Promise Me, Dad.” This suggests he removed classified information from the White House when he left as vice president for the purpose of disclosing the information, the Oversight Project argues.
The group argues the Justice Department should reopen the investigation to determine whether it is proper to claw back the profits Biden made from the book because those profits were made as a result of his unauthorized retention and disclosure of classified information.
The group also points to a strong contrast in how FBI agents handled the search in Biden’s document case compared with Trump’s.

The photos show FBI agents at the Penn Biden Center and Biden’s Wilmington home handling classified materials held in boxes and various folders, with gloves and in an organized way.
By contrast, the Oversight Project contends that when the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago in 2022, agents dumped documents across the floor for cameras to capture. The images were leaked to the media.
“The photographic evidence released today lays bare a glaring double standard in how the Department of Justice and the FBI conduct high-profile investigations,” Oversight Project Vice President of Litigation Jeff Clark said in a public statement.
“While President Trump was subjected to a public spectacle designed to prejudge his guilt, the Biden handling was managed with kid gloves to protect a reputation,” Clark added. “The American people expect and deserve equal justice under the law, and we will continue using every legal avenue to ensure transparency and accountability. DOJ should now claw Joe Biden’s book profits from him.”
Special Counsel Robert Hur led the probe and decided against bringing charges against Biden, asserting a jury would find him a sympathetic figure as an elderly man with a poor memory.
The Daily Signal reached out to the Office of Joe and Jill Biden as well as the office of the Joe Biden Presidential Library. Neither responded to requests for comment.
