Illegal Aliens Staying Away From Border Amid Trump Admin’s 3-Month Zero-Release Record

For three months in a row, no illegal aliens have been released into the U.S., according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Simultaneously, CBP is recording record-low illegal alien encounters at the border.

In July, there were just 24,628 total encounters at the U.S. border, down from 170,180 in July 2024, marking the lowest monthly number of encounters in CBP history, according to the White House. No illegal aliens were paroled into the U.S. in July, compared to 12,365 in July 2024.  

“Under President [Donald] Trump, the border is the most secure it’s ever been in American history,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday. “When you fortify the border, restore deterrence, and empower Border Patrol agents to do their jobs and enforce the laws on the books like President Trump has—this is the incredible result.” 

Border Patrol encountered 4,601 illegal aliens between ports of entry at the southern border in July, marking a 23% decline from June and a 90% decline from July a year ago.  

“President Trump is removing dangerous illegal alien criminals from our streets, restoring law and order, and making America safe again,” Liz Huston, a White House spokeswoman, told The Daily Signal.  

Under Trump’s leadership, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and border czar Tom Homan have prioritized the arrest and removal of illegal aliens with criminal records. However, increased Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations across the U.S. have led to a 1,000% increase in assaults against ICE agents.   

Trump this week also announced the federalization of the Washington, D.C., police force and the deployment of the National Guard in the city in an effort to crack down on crime in the nation’s capital, a move some Democrats, such as Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., have criticized. 

Huston said, “Lunatic Democrats like Maxine Waters are demonizing and fueling violent attacks against the heroic law enforcement officers who are carrying out these critical public safety efforts.”  

Huston’s criticism of Waters comes after the California congresswoman accused Trump of “trying to lead us into what could be called a Civil War.” 

“Maxine Waters is truly unhinged,” Huston said, “and her radicalism is a prime example of why the Democrat Party’s ratings are at 30-year lows.”  

Waters’ office did not immediately respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment.
