Instagram isn’t just for preteens and Justin Bieber anymore. Politicians all over the nation have embraced the photo-posting app to better engage with their constituents, give their followers an inside look to life as a senator … or president of the United States.
As more politicos join the Instagram revolution, more photos pop up revealing a new side of the American politician. From selfies to elementary photos, here’s a look at some of the best politico Instagrams of 2014.

She also debuted a second Instagram account in 2014 — a page devoted to recipes and food photos.
I created this IG account after two months of exploring a healthy cooking, clean eating lifestyle. I have never cooked before, really (except for Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies w/ my kids). Once, I didn’t realize water wasn’t boiling b/c the new gas stove wasn’t connected for three months! I started this journey because I wanted to feel healthier, lose some weight after gaining weight following breast cancer and set an example for my 3 amazing kids (and my hubby who has now decided to eat healthy and can’t believe I’m cooking after 23 years of marriage). I’ve been inspired after finding the accounts tagged here. Follow me as I explore through this newfound journey. Oh yes, I’m also a Member of the U. S. House of Representatives from #Florida. Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., made it his online mission to snap a selfie with every single one of his Senate colleagues. It looks like he’ll finish the quest in 2015.
13th in my 99 part Instagram series: Selfies With My Fellow Senators. Here with Senator Harry Reid of Nevada. He is the Senate Majority Leader. As a candidate, he revealed himself to me in a meaningful way. During my primary, my father had a stoke in Nevada and eventually died there. After the stroke and before his passing, Harry Reid showed my family extraordinary kindness – even going to my father’s bedside and sitting with him during his final days as I was in New Jersey. His spirit helped bring us comfort during a painful time. While much can be said about Harry Reid professionally, my opinion of him will always begin and end with the same conclusion: He is a profoundly kind, caring, compassionate and decent man. It is a great honor to serve with him.
Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Wis., released a viral video called “But first…#letmetakeaselfie” in late April. It was a selfie video set on Capitol Hill. His Instragram quickly rose to the top politico account to follow.
His last Budget Resolution markup as Budget Committee Chairman. Well done, my friend. #selfie A photo posted by Rep. Sean Duffy (@repseanduffy) on
…and soon everyone wanted a part of the Duffy Instagram.
