Andrew J. Harding

Andrew Harding is a Policy Analyst for National Security and Indo-Pacific Affairs at The Heritage Foundation, where he produces policy analysis and commentary on U.S. national security strategy, U.S.-China strategic competition, and geopolitical trends. He specializes in U.S. security policy in East Asia and Oceania, including Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, and North Korea.

In 2025, Harding served as Special Assistant for Asia on the National Security Council, where he supported the Asia directorate’s policy priorities and Indo-Pacific engagements. He has also served as Heritage’s Senior Associate for National Security Coalitions, where he developed partnerships and advanced Heritage’s national security policy priorities at the national and state levels.

In 2024, during his first tenure with Heritage’s Asian Studies Center, Harding authored The Pacific Pivot: An American Strategy for the Pacific Islands, Heritage’s first-ever report outlining a long-term U.S. engagement strategy for the Pacific Islands to advance U.S. interests. His writing has appeared in Fox News, The Hill, Defense News, National Review, The National Interest, RealClearDefense and The Center for Maritime Strategy, among other outlets. He regularly appears on national media, including Fox News, Newsmax, and NewsNation.

Harding holds two Bachelor of Arts from The George Washington University and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts from Johns Hopkins University. He and his wife reside in Washington, D.C.
