Heritage Foundation Sets Campaign to Promote American Values

The Heritage Foundation is distributing an online “citizen’s guide” to promote American values for those concerned about the direction of the country.

“America is at this historic intersection and has a choice between two paths,” Heritage Foundation President Kay C. James said Tuesday in a prepared statement.

 “What we do today will determine what kind of future we leave for future generations.” James said. “‘The Citizen’s Guide to Fight for America’ is an action plan for Americans who want to hand off a better America to our children and grandchildren.”  

James announced publication of the  online citizen’s guide during the leading conservative think tank’s Virtual Members Summit. 

The guide, which may be found here, is designed as a toolkit to help Americans communicate “more effectively in public conversations” and offers “key insights on the policy debates dominating our national conversation,” a press release from Heritage says. 

Those taking part in the program are asked to sign a pledge supporting law enforcement, promote voter registration, and write letters to local newspapers.

They also are asked to become Sentinels, the name for hundreds of grassroots activists allied with Heritage Action for America, the partner organization of The Heritage Foundation. 

“Americans should be personally and actively invested in how we are governed and how our society operates,” Rob Bluey, Heritage’s vice president of communications, said.

“Unfortunately, civic literacy and citizen engagement are at an all-time low in America,” Bluey said. “Heritage refuses to accept an apathetic electorate that surrenders its future to the elites in Washington and Hollywood. The citizen’s guide is not only a toolkit, but also a mobilization engine to propel Americans to fight for what makes our country great.” 

The guide includes tools such as tips on how to write effective letters to the editor and guest commentaries, talking points on the issues, guidance on communicating more effectively in public conversations, and insights on major policy debates.
