50th Annual March for Life Takes Place in Washington, DC

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The 50th annual March for Life is taking place Friday in the nation’s capital, the very first annual march to occur since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

Organizers at the March for Life celebrated the overturn of Roe but reminded marchers that “the necessary work to build a culture of life in the United States of America is not finished.”

“Rather, it is focused differently,” the March for Life website says.

“Our most important work is changing hearts and minds,” the organization continues. “The goal of the national March for Life is to not only change laws at the state and federal level, but to change the culture to ultimately make abortion unthinkable.

The Friday March for Life rally will feature speakers Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus Christ in “The Chosen” television series; March for Life President Jeanne Mancini; former NFL coach Tony Dungy; Reps. Steve Scalise, R-La., and Chris Smith, R-N.J.; and more.

“The world changed when on June 24 the SCOTUS issued the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision allowing the people, through their elected officials at the state and federal level, to impact pro-life law,” Mancini said in a Friday statement.

“So many pro-life giants paved the way for this momentous victory,” she added. “While this year marks our most significant victory, the human rights abuse of abortion is far from over, sadly. This year in the U.S. we expect well over 700,000 abortions. And so, we continue to march until the human rights abuse of abortion is a thing of the past, until the tragedy of abortion becomes unthinkable!”
