The Digital Strategist develops and executes The Daily Signal’s social media strategy, overseeing content creation, increasing brand awareness, and building an engaged community. This role plays a key editorial function ensuring The Daily Signal is an influential voice in the digital news ecosystem. The Digital Strategist collaborates with Daily Signal leadership to implement strategies for growing our audience, while helping guide the news outlet’s voice. This position is responsible for both long-term strategy and day-to-day implementation across a variety of Daily Signal social channels. Job Duties

  • Lead and manage social media strategy and daily execution across The Daily Signal’s social media platforms.
  • Develop and implement weekly schedules for all social media content, ensuring coverage is robust and relevant during daytime, evenings, weekends, and breaking-news events.
  • Oversee the creation, editing, and distribution of digital content—including videos, data visualizations, and graphics—ensuring posts are accurate and aligned with The Daily Signal’s editorial goals.
  • Write scripts for, appear in, and help produce, edit, and film social media videos.
  • Ensure all digital content is consistent in style, quality, and tone of voice and aligns with Daily Signal brand identity and editorial standards.
  • Increase followers, influence, and reach of The Daily Signal across social media, prioritizing the most critical platforms, with a heavy emphasis on X.
  • Observe new trends in social media, digital content, and traffic opportunities and present them to team members.
  • Mentor and train team members on digital best practices, emerging platforms, and content optimization techniques.
  • Regularly monitor the news cycle, identifying events to clip videos, such as presidential speeches, press briefings, congressional floor speeches, and other public events.
  • Promote older Daily Signal content related to new events.
  • Collaborate closely with The Daily Signal team to ensure timely promotion of content as well as advice on how to boost content’s social media reach and influence. Collaborate with team on increasing traffic to website from social media posts. 
  • Oversee clipping and promotion of Daily Signal media appearances to maximize reach and influence.
  • Collaborate closely with Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action to ensure the Heritage enterprise is leveraging its full potential on social media are supporting each other. 
  • Produce monthly analytics reports on The Daily Signal’s social media performance, along with suggested changes for the next month.
  • Train other digital employees and interns in social media posting and clipping, overseeing their work to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Build partnerships with other conservative news outlets and organizations and the offices of lawmakers and agencies.
  • Direct paid social media advertising for content promotion, audience acquisition, and campaign efforts.
  • Represent The Daily Signal at appropriate media conferences and functions.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience: 2+ years of digital experience
  • Communication: Excellent editing and writing skills
  • Technology: Microsoft Suite, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with social media analytics

The salary range for this role is $68,000 – $82,000 annually. This range is a good-faith estimate, and the final salary offered to a selected candidate depends on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, and other qualifications; internal and external market pay for comparable jobs; and level of hire based on aforementioned qualifications.
