While most news outlets are reporting that the final total for the stimulus deficit spending package is $151-152 billion, the actual total is $168 billion over two years. While these numbers are regrettably higher than $150 billion originally agreed to by the House and White House, they are much more acceptable than the $204 billion the Senate was pushing for. So congratulations to the budget hawks in the Senate for a job well done keeping the goodies for special interests out of the final bill.
