Rand Paul Speaks on U.S. Decline in Economic Freedom

This year, the United States continued to lose ground to its competitors in the global race to advance economic freedom and prosperity. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) visits Heritage today at 11 a.m. ET to address the decline, which has occurred mostly on President Obama’s watch.

The U.S. score has declined almost six points since 2007, placing the United States among those countries considered to be only “mostly free.”

Paul’s visit to Heritage comes hours after the 20th anniversary of the Index of Economic Freedom was publicly released. He’ll be followed by a panel that includes Steve Moore, an editorial board member and senior economics writer at The Wall Street Journal; Heritage’s Derrick Morgan, vice president of domestic and economic policy, and Bryan Riley, Heritage’s Jay Van Andel senior policy analyst in trade policy.
